Dave’s ESL Cafe Discussion Forums: Automatically Block Specified Users

If you have Firefox with Greasemonkey installed on your computer (PC/Mac/Linux), then you can take advantage of my custom user script for automatically blocking posts from annoying users on Dave’s ESL Cafe Forums.

Some posters on the ESL Cafe Forums are irritating and add little value to the community. This script asks you one time which users you wish to block, and then automatically hides any post of which they are the original author.

Install The Script

The first time you install this script and then visit any ESL Cafe forum, it will popup a dialog box asking you to enter the usernames whose posts you wish to block. Just enter them in a list separated by commas, such as: user1,user2,user3,etc. There is no limit to how many usernames you can enter.

From that point on, every time you visit an ESL Cafe Forum, the posts started by any of those users will just not be there – they are wiped away for all time from your particular computer’s perspective.

Big Limitation: Currently, you can only enter the names of the users you wish to block 1 time, when you first install and use the script. After that, you cannot update this list. I am working on a solution to this problem.
